Cranesden Farm is a 30 acre smallholding featuring a stream, wildlife lake, ancient woodland and approximately 20 acres of grazing land. We moved here in 2006 with no knowledge of farming and have taught ourselves how to care for pigs, sheep, chickens, ducks and cows.

We are passionate about ensuring our animals are cared for in a healthy, happy and natural environment so , whilst we have pens to care for nursing mums, the majority of our animals live outside all year round in plenty of space.

We will usually have a couple of young pigs and a couple on site. In 2023 we decided to stop breeding pigs here, preferring to send our Mums and Dad to a local farm and taking a couple of weaners every 6 months from them. Our clay soil is really hard for the pigs when outdoors in the winter and they are much happier in their new home. We miss them but are comfortable that it was the right thing to do.

We have Jacobs and Easy Care ewes producing about 30 lambs a year and we have approximately 30 chickens and 15 ducks. We have 3 Dexter cows and a bull and they produce calves each year so we have up to 10 cattle here at any one time. We produce all our own hay from our two largest fields and provide winter grazing for 50 ewes and a ram from another nearby farm.

We butcher all our pork, lamb and beef; we sell all our eggs and meat locally as well as selling at the gate to local residents. Holiday makers are welcome to order supplies for their stay here. Just let us know on the booking form or email us nearer to your stay and we will do our best to meet your requirements.

Whilst you are here you are welcome to walk over our fields and enjoy the lovely views. The following video shows many features of our farm all of which are within easy walking distance from the Barn.  http://youtu.be/tguFqhQ9OPQ
